Loic Girard

Artist Bio

Loïc Girard is a French-Caribbean visual artist based in Guadeloupe who works primarily with black ink on paper. His work centers careful observation and a deep relationship with his surroundings. His drawings document everyday life, vernacular architecture, and ordinary moments that shape collective memory.

Inspired by Caribbean landscapes, popular culture, and the balance between tradition and modern life, Loïc explores themes of identity, belonging, cultural heritage, and change. His work preserves the people, places, and rituals that often go unnoticed, creating visual archives that honor the complexity, beauty, and impermanence of everyday life. Through drawing, he invites viewers to connect with the stories embedded in the world around them.

Threads of Identity with Arianne Cope

Arianne Cope is a painter, fiber artist, shepherd, and mother living in the Missouri Ozarks. She spends her days raising sheep and angora rabbits, spinning and dyeing wool by hand, and creating paintings inspired by the entire journey. Her work captures the rhythms of farm life, and the relationships she has built with the animals and people in her care. These experiences become works of art that explore comfort, resilience, and identity.

Pollination & Connection with Helen Klebesadel

Helen Klebesadel is a Madison-based visual artist and educator best known for her environmental and surreal watercolors that push the traditional boundaries of scale, content, and technique. She has exhibited her watercolors nationally and internationally, including through the U.S. Arts in the Embassies Program.

One thing we continue to come back to in working with artists, is how often creativity becomes a source of therapy, a place to process life and the experiences of the world in our own individual ways. A deeper reflection of how we can learn about ourselves, intentionally and intuitively, noticing what others might pass by, and choosing to observe a little longer. Understanding that not all creative practices begin with the intention to produce something.
