Meet us Where We Are, to converse, create, reflect, and grow.
This is a shared space for creative expression, reflection, and collective care. Each issue holds space for where we find ourselves: creatively and culturally, in nature, in our communities, and in moments of healing. A place for our humanity, the flaws, wisdom, and creative ingenuity.
Through art, poetry, writing, exhibitions, and shared documentation, we will explore how people tend to the world, and one another. We are here to follow the journey of how communities care and evolve over time.

Selection Process
-
Submissions are reviewed with care, curiosity, and attention to how each piece resonates with the theme and the larger context of the issue.
-
We consider:
-
Alignment with the issue theme
-
Thoughtfulness, honesty, and intention
-
Connection to lived experience, place, or community
-
How pieces speak to one another within the publication or theme
-
-
We aim to curate each issue as a collective conversation, bringing together a range of voices, formats, and perspectives.
-
Confluence is shaped by people from many lived experiences, including queer, neurodivergent, disabled, immigrant, international, multiracial, and cross-cultural perspectives. We are intentionally building alternatives to hustle-culture, extractive models, and are committed to care, accommodation, honesty, and a sustainable pace of growth. That means we do not operate like traditional publications, and that is by design.

Communication & Capacity
-
Confluence Community is stewarded by a small volunteer team and grows through shared care and participation. Because of this, our communication capacity, including non selected response emails, may not be possible until a bigger team and capacity is acquired.
-
If you do not hear from us by the stated launch date, it may indicate that your submission was not selected or that we were unable to reach you.
-
Rather than seeing this as a barrier, we name it as part of how Confluence works: this is a space we build together.
-
We welcome artists, writers, organizers, and community members who want to find support, and provide support, for the work behind the scenes, whether through administration, communications, curation support, community care, technical systems, or other contributions aligned with their skills and capacity.
-
If you’re interested in helping expand what’s possible here, we invite you to join the community and explore ways to participate more deeply in shaping this collective creative journey.
