Art for All | The Open Art Exhibition

Confluence Community is excited to present: Art for All | The Open Art Exhibition, inspired by International Creativity Month, and Inspire Your Heart with Art Day, an opportunity to honor creative expression across cultures, disciplines, and communities. This January felt like an important time to create an exhibition that removed specific themes, and allowed creativity itself to take the lead.

We deeply understand the role that art and creative expression has in shaping our connection with others, and within ourselves. Art helps us make sense of the world, and imagine the possibilities. We see creativity as essential to our humanity, and it is how we continue to navigate unprecedented events unfolding throughout history, and into the present.

Rather than shaping the exhibition around a single idea, the curatorial process focused on how the works could live together, how color, tone, form, and feeling might guide the experience as a whole. What emerged is a collective journey that reflects individuality and connection. The curating was treated as a creative process in itself, allowing the works to inform one another and shape the rhythm of the space, paying close attention to how they speak to each other, how relationships form across difference, while still celebrating the beauty of diverse creativity.

The Art for All | Open Exhibition invites viewers to move through the space with curiosity and intention, to step back, step in, and experience the work from multiple angles. It is an exploration of contrast and cohesion, diversity and balance, and what becomes possible when creativity is allowed to move freely.

We are deeply grateful to the artists who made this exhibition possible, and to the broader community whose encouragement, participation, and support continue to sustain this work. Thank you for being part of this moment, for engaging with the art, and for helping us build a more accessible and connected creative space together.

Community Conversations

This year, we introduced collective themes and topics across our programming, as a way to create intentional conversations around how we engage with art and community.

January through March, our overarching focus is Culture.

In January, we explored the relationship between Creativity & Culture.

We invited people to consider:

  • How does creativity shape culture?

  • How does culture shape creativity?

  • How does what we create influence the world around us?

  • How does the world around us influence what we make, how we speak, and what we value?

Creativity does not exist in isolation. It is shaped by our environments, histories, identities, languages, and the communities we move through. What we create reflects where we come from, while also contributing to what comes next.

By holding space for these conversations, we invite artists and audiences to consider creativity as an active force, one that responds to and shapes culture over time.

Where We Are Magazine exists as an archive for these moments and conversations. It is a space where exhibitions, reflections, community projects, writing, and creative experiments can live beyond a single exhibition, or social media post. Rather than chasing immediacy or trends, the magazine holds space for work to be revisited, layered, and connected over time.

In February, we will explore our relationship with Language & Culture.

You are invited to continue this dialogue in our Community Group here on our websitee, a free space to connect with other artists, share work, and engage with these questions together.

These themes are not rigid frameworks, they are invitations for conservations and sharing openly with one another.

We welcome artists, writers, organizers, and community members to participate not only by submitting finished work, but by contributing ideas, experiments, reflections, and forms of participation that feel honest and accessible. This includes creating, documenting, archiving, sharing, and shaping what comes next, together.
