September | Community Vision Planning Summit

Creative Summit | September 17th | 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Purpose

The Creative Summit is a focused, invitation-only working session with a select group of leaders, organizers, and visionaries shaping Jacksonville’s creative economy. It is not a public event but a collaborative session designed to align expertise, resources, and ideas with the pilot program for the Creative Campus.

The Creative Campus is envisioned as a multi-use community space where art, entrepreneurship, food, and culture come together.

The Summit is our chance to:

  • Test and refine pilot program opportunities.

  • Introduce clear roles, residencies, and support systems so people know exactly how they can engage.

  • Form the Community Network Cooperative together and discuss the cooperative governing aspects of the Creative Campus.

  • Build a framework during the pilot that can be scaled easily when the Creative Campus officially launches in the new year.

  • Lock in some potential Community Partnerships and studio rentals for next year.

  • The session takes place in the evening, we are planning to incorporate a light dinner or food experience to foster connection and collaboration.

Target Audiences / Industries of Interest

We are bringing together leaders across creative industries whose input is vital for shaping and supporting the pilot program:

  • Local Market Hosts & Organizers

  • Fashion & Design Companies

  • Filmmakers & Production Companies

  • Photographers & Artists

  • Galleries, Art Collectives, Shared Workspace Hosts, and Creative Studios

  • Creative Entrepreneurs & Educators

Interactive Collaborative Activities

Easy-to-facilitate options that create energy and tangible input for the pilot program:

  • Vision Mapping Wall

    • Large sheets of paper on the wall labeled with categories (e.g., Residencies, Programs, Partnerships, Space Ideas, Events, Community Needs).

    • Participants add sticky notes with ideas, needs, or commitments.

    • At the end, the group reviews and clusters notes into themes.

  • Role Match Exercise

    • Provide cards with draft roles (e.g., Photography Studio Resident, Event Coordinator, Mentor, Market Organizer).

    • Participants either: a) Claim a role they feel connected to, or b) Suggest roles that are missing

  • Roundtable Breakouts

    • Break into small groups (5–6 people).

    • Each group tackles a prompt such as:

      • “What would success for the Creative Campus look like in Year 1?”

      • “How can residencies support both the artist and the community?”

      • “What partnerships or resources are needed to make this successful?”

      • Groups share highlights back to the room.

  • Commitment Cards

    • Each participant writes one thing they can contribute (time, expertise, connections, resources).

    • Cards are collected and later used to map who fits into pilot teams.

Please, let us know if you would like to participate or donate in-kind any of the following logistics associated with this summit.
