About the Role
The Communications & Community Outreach role is a professional development opportunity designed to immerse you in arts communications, nonprofit storytelling, and community engagement. You will help amplify Confluence Community’s programs, from virtual art exhibitions to workshops, community projects, and partnerships, ensuring that artists, audiences, and collaborators are engaged and informed.
This internship offers mentorship, portfolio-building experience, and the chance to shape how Confluence Community connects with both local and global audiences.
Responsibilities
Draft and distribute press releases, program announcements, and community updates.
Manage social media content and campaigns to highlight exhibitions, projects, and opportunities.
Coordinate with artists and partners to ensure bios, links, and promotional materials are accurate.
Support the creation of newsletters, email campaigns, and event announcements.
Assist with outreach to partner organizations, donors, and community groups.
Track engagement metrics and suggest strategies to increase participation and visibility.

Commitment

Compensation
This role may be supported by stipends as funding becomes available. Confluence does not charge fees for participation; instead, the goal is to grow programs in ways that can sustain contributing roles and eventually provide compensation for artists. Participation in this role offers professional development, mentorship, and the chance to contribute meaningfully to an inclusive and sustainable arts and community program.
Requirements
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Access to a computer, internet, and basic creative tools (Canva, Google Docs, etc.)
Ability to commit 5 hours per week for tasks
Willingness to work independently while staying connected with the team
Respect for diverse artists, creative expressions, and community values
Open to feedback and reflective learning throughout the program
Openness to learning, collaborating, and receiving mentorship.
You do not need to be enrolled in college to apply, this is a learning opportunity for all ages.
